This delicious mushroom has an almond-like nutty flavor and firm crunchy texture.  Chestnuts hold up well during cooking and are great on top of a salad after being sautéed or make a great side dish to complement some earthy vegetables.  Chestnuts last for a week in the refrigerator but should be eaten as quickly as possible for the soft texture, or can be dried slightly in open air before using for a firmer, denser cook.
